...so where's Maynooth?

This page is (mostly) for interested international students...

Maynooth is a small (population 12,000) town with a small (10,500 students) university, just outside Dublin (40 minutes by train, an hour by bus from the city centre). It is Ireland's only greenfield university (alternatively called the National University of Ireland Maynooth and Maynooth University).

Maynooth has the happiest international students in Europe, according to the StudyPortals International Student Satisfaction Awards 2015. Students particularly liked the campus, the student community, the friendliness of the teachers and the small class sizes.

The 2015 Times Higher Education rankings listed Maynooth among the top 400 universities in the world, not least because of its international outlook and the widespread impact of its academics' work (measured in numbers of citations).

Maynooth also has a long record of involvement with social movements of all kinds. The Dept of Adult and Community Education is closely associated with the development of community activism in Ireland over the past four decades, while the Dept of Sociology has a particular track record in social movements. The global Interface journal of social movement practice is based here.
